Native Plants + the Practice of Belonging -- February 21st

$125.00

2pm - 5pm

This gathering is part of a new land-tending series devoted to cultivating a relationship with native plants, seasonal rhythms, attuned practices and appreciating the inherent wisdom of nature and the power of regeneration.

Rooted in nearly two decades of tending this Nature Refuge, and shaped by years of study with Chumash medicine woman Cecilia Garcia, this offering invites a way of learning that is relational, lived, and grounded in care. Rather than focusing on mastery or extraction, we begin with listening, to the land, to the plants themselves, to what it means to belong to a place over time. We will  delve into sp e if the medicinal properties, traditional and contemporary uses, and the many ways relationship with plants is cultivated through care, attention, and reciprocity.

During our time together, we will also be making a deeply nourishing body oil for spring ~ as a way to interact and forge a deeper relationship with some of our seasonal native plant allies. You will take this oil home to use on this season, as a gift of nourishment and connection.

In the wake of the fires, regeneration is a living and visible process on this land. We will hold space to witness what has been altered, what is returning, and what now asks for our participation. Native plants offer profound teachings about succession, resilience, and renewal, lessons that emerge not through theory, but through direct relationship.

This gathering is open to all levels of experience. You do not need prior knowledge of native plants to attend. Curiosity, humility, and a willingness to listen are the only prerequisites. Whether you are new to this place or have lived here for many years, you are welcome.

This is an invitation to deepen your sense of place, to form meaningful relationships with the more-than-human world, and to explore what it means to live in reciprocity with the land we call home.

If cost is a barrier and you feel called to attend, please reach out. We want this gathering to remain accessible while honoring the depth of the work.
